This is the story of a Black man named Henry, and the grief he experiences after having recently and suddenly lost his father, Charles. Surrounded by friends and family, Henry struggles to maintain his composure during the post-funeral reception at his home. On the verge of finally emotionally and mentally collapsing, he leaves behind his fellow mourners to lock himself away in his room and succumb to the pent-up emotions, but it’s here where he realizes he’s not only left behind his friends and family, but left behind the physical reality he has existed in and is welcomed to this new world by a familiar man — Charles.
