Pitch: SITRA ACHRA is the story of Andrew Goldstein, a retro game collector and podcaster, whose life is turned upside-down when he comes into possession of a mysterious Commodore 64 prototype, created by a once-famed game designer that vanished without a trace in 1985. As Andrew’s friends and co-hosts, Natasha and Simone, investigate the occult origins of the game, he becomes obsessed with beating Sitra Achra… but the game won’t give up its secrets without a fight.
Cast: Darius Pierce of PIG (with Nicolas Cage), Nathan Barnatt (Keith Apicary, Dad), Angela Chandra (My Ghoulfriend), Cecily Overman (Wonderland Murders), and more!
To me, the best horror is about something. SITRA ACHRA weaves in themes of obsession, the addictive nature of hero complexes, and the dark side of nostalgia – but not at the expense of eerie moments, creeping dread, and outright scares. And, just as importantly, it does so with characters you genuinely care about. And that’s why this next part is so important – Sitra Achra the game is essentially a character in the movie, too. I want to give audiences the opportunity to play the exact same game that drives Andrew to the edge. I believe this will forge a real emotional connection to both the story and the human characters caught up in the game’s dangerous web.
And, well, it’s just cool that the game in the movie is a real thing. — Levi Buchanan
