I always had a vision for where I would be in my life when I was hitting the 30 mark. I followed the linear way of life; graduated from school, did my undergrad abroad, completed my Masters and got a job! I spent 5 years in a few marketing jobs where I though I was getting everything I wanted out of life. The salary was great, working hours were flexible, and I was basically my own boss. Sounds ideal, but something was missing. That fire in me told me to stop playing it safe, take a risk, quit my job, dare to do something I had zero idea about, but something that I was exceptionally passionate about. I did. I quit my job, took 6 months off to just travel, explore and think about what I really wanted.
ENTER BROWSPOP.
I was convinced I was solving a problem
I’m a brown girl with thick dark hair-those like me know exactly what I mean! I could never bear the pain of waxing and threading and yet I did those things because I never found an easier, better way to remove unwanted hairs. I thought about it for a long time and knew there had to be another way to save the time, effort and the discomfort of walking out of your house with werewolf like eyebrows, just like the other thousands of girls like me.
I created the Precision Brows Pen – A mini beauty gadget that removes unwanted facial hairs, instantly, and painlessly. We sold not 1, but thousands of this product in just a few months of launching. It was a product in that people needed but didn’t even know existed. Literally being able to remove your upper lip hairs and shaping your eyebrows by yourself, in your own home, and with NO pain or redness is every Asian girl’s dream. But that’s not where I stopped….
Have I mentioned that I’m always all over the place and I like to do multiple things because I believe that I am so much more than just 1 thing?
BrowsPop is going on and it’s doing great, but my whacky brain though why just stop at women, why not target men? We know men have funky hairs growing out of funky places and are too embarrassed to admit it! So, I decided to launch Ryzor Pen on Kickstarter with my husband. It’s basically a mini-3-in-1 hair removing pain for unibrows, nostril ahirs, and ear hairs. I can’t tell you if it’s a success or not yet, but it’s launching soon and I would definitely love to keep you all in the loop.
Just want to say that it’s not easy having to figure out your whole life in your teenage years or early twenties. I went from a rule-by-the-book student, to a marketing employee, to a now entrepreneur who is working with her husband. :S Let me update you in a few weeks on how the new Kickstarter project (by the way, we did not even know what Kickstarter was 3 months ago) and working with my husband is going!
