The Wild Hunt For Baba Yaga – chapter 1
( visual novel with elements of a psychological horror)
This is a small preview of the game I am working on. The Wild Hunt For Baba Yaga – chapter 1 will be a visual novel with psychological horror elements and will have a new take of the stories of old. It will be mainly focused around the Slavic folklore character Baba Yaga. I am planning on making the visual novel with 3 difficulty levels where for example on easy mode the game will play as the average visual novel purely focused on story with almost no mechanics outside of finding items that carry additional story – letters, hidden objects and so on. The other 2 difficulty levels will introduce mechanics like quick time events, inventory with few items in them like potions and scrolls that will affect the health of the character and the amount of enemies he encounters on the roads to the main locations. Now since there will be mechanics I did plan to have a tutorial and I have written a small backstory about it that is connected with the overall story, but not directly connected to the story of chapter 1. In the tutorial section you will be introduced to a few characters, but every interaction with them will come at a price, that you will learn eventually. My plan for the tutorial is a bit ambitious and that’s why It will be quite heavy for testing online (when the game is done and I convert it for Steam the player won’t notice the difference, but online it needs time to fetch and load all the items and I have put a lot in a small scene ) , so be patient when I unlock that part on CloudNovel. Other features I will briefly mention: Archives – here I plan to give you the option to read the full stories you have unlocked and to see which you have yet to uncover. Separate chapter menus and one main – don’t worry, the player won’t have to go through a couple of menus just to play. Initially the main menu will pop up with the option to make it absolutely skippable (this is reversible) and to pick which chapter menu you want to be displayed the first time you log in. For now I only plan the main menu to have switchable backgrounds the display the different chapters ,but It is all in early production and a lot can change (especially since I love going back and reworking stuff … ) Now since all of this is done solely by me I will probably release the difficulty levels one by one and I will start with focusing mainly on the story and substance so expect initially only a basic version of the game.
