Why support me?
I'm developing a few open-source coding projects. One is a guitar chord generator. It randomly generates guitar chords and their fingerings for practice, songwriting, etc. I began with the 42k+ chords at hakwright.co.uk and filtered out those that seem impossible to play. These chords do not include the information of which fingers go on what strings. Many of them have multiple possible fingerings. I built tooling to make data entry simpler. Currently ~36k distinct fingerings can be generated. I'm only ~20% done with data entry, but am hitting a performance snag and need to do a good round of code-tidying.
Another involves a set of symbols that represent cyclic groups and permutations. If you've ever added/subtracted hours on a clock, congratulations: you've used a cyclic group. You can read a description on my Reddit post here in case you're interested. My next step is to learn some hyperbolic geometry.
I've been also been developing a way to represent information in general for around four years – my baby metaontology. Most of the time has been spent cycling through scrapped designs and prototypes. I'm currently working on a JavaScript prototype. Once functioning, I plan on migrating stuff onto there. It is tricky to explain what it is briefly to a general audience, but I consider it to be a top priority.
I do other stuff than programming. The past two years I've analyzed ~140 poems and written ~65 at r/OCPoetry. I've been self-teaching Linguistics from Wikipedia and rhetoric.byu.edu – OCPoetry is a great place to practice and share theory. My feedback on the poem 3rd-shift exxon carrboro is an extra-example of close reading. I wrote/produced a 35 minute midi micro-album a couple years ago. I also boulder – a form of low-height no-rope rock climbing – and developed a dozenish new climbs at my local mountain. Here's an example of what that looks like from a professional climber – I'm nowhere near that good. For anonymity sake, I won't post the google guide I'm maintaining.
If funded, I plan on spending my first $5 on a laundry card so I don't have to do it in the bathtub, drip-drying indoors over three days.
